They sound Christian, like something you might find in the Bible They capture some element of truth, yet they miss the point in important ways. In his engaging style. Adam breaks down these common sayings using Scripture and story with practical applications.

Cornerstone Kids Graduate!
Father Connelly and Deacon Ackerman stopped by to enjoy a portion of our fun End of the Year Celebration at Cornerstone Kids. Each class had worked on a presentation for the parents and friends. Mrs. Jenkins’ fifth grade class graduated from the program. They were presented with special keepsakes: certificates, posters of pictures of them throughout their years at Cornerstone, and $25 Wal-Mart gift cards from St. John’s.
Liturgical Minister Gathering
These pictures are from last week’s gathering at Mrs. Hanlon’s for our liturgical ministers (lectors, LEMs and vergers). They feasted on shrimp remoulade, asparagus, mini-quiche, strawberries, salmon pate, deviled eggs, spinach squares, caprese skewers, and other delicacies. They even enjoyed a Wright’s carrot cake in honor of a special birthday. Thanks to Mrs. Hanlon for hosting!

Youth Outreach Opportunities
DaySpring Youth Mission Camp
July 10 through 15, DaySpring Conference Center, Parrish
Campers will go in teams to mission sites each day from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Mission work will include working with children of migrant workers in the Wimauma area through RCMA, experiencing homeless ministries and feeding the hungry through Turning Points in Bradenton, as well as the opportunity for a group to go to Marco Island to be part of Camp Able, a camp for people with “diversabilities.” Along with the mission visits will be all kinds of fun traditional camp activities like canoeing, games, arts and crafts, sports, as well as evening programs about mission, worship, and meeting new friends. This experience will make a difference not only in young people’s lives, but in their communities when they return.

In-Town Mission Week: Urban Immersion Program
July 25 through 29, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Metropolitan Ministries
Metropolitan Ministries’ Urban Immersion initiative provides youth an unique opportunity to be fully and closely engaged with their community. Youth will be exposed to true homelessness and poverty while learning ways to help individually, as a church, and as a community. Each day will include education, lunch, and four service hours. The cost is $50 per week, which includes a t-shirt and lunch daily.
The experience will include:
*face-to-face ministry with homeless and at-risk clients
*off-campus with local partners
*for families in need.
