CWBS is studying Paul’s letter to the Romans. After conversation and a light breakfast (fruit & some type of bread) that members take turns bringing, the study starts at 7:00 a.m. and ends shortly before 8:00 a.m.; a few people may leave early if they have to go to work.

The Wednesday NIghts group continues their study of “Half Truths.” In this five-session video Bible study, Adam Hamilton explores the truth of some familiar phrases. They sound Christian, like something you might find in the Bible They capture some element of truth, yet they miss the point in important ways. In his engaging style. Adam breaks down these common sayings using Scripture and story with practical applications.

The Rev. Lester Durst, RIP
Dear Parish Family:
I received the following notification last week from Fr. Douglas Scharf, Dean of the Tampa Deanery, notifying us that Fr. Lester Durst has died. Please keep Lester, his wife, Carolyn and the rest of the family in your prayers.
Fr. Durst served on Fr. John Peterson’s staff at St. John’s from about 1993 to 1996 before he was called to be rector of St. Peter’s in Plant City. He had been a partner in a law firm in Sarasota before entering Virginia Theological Seminary.
May Lester’s soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Dear Friends in Christ,
I am very saddened to report that our brother in Christ, the Rev. Lester Durst, died peacefully last night at Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City. Lester had been in ICU for the past two weeks. He fought hard and received excellent medical care, but his body ultimately could not recover.
Please keep Lester’s wife, Carolyn, along with their two children, Lauren and Michael, in your prayers.

In-Town Mission Week: Urban Immersion Program
July 25 through 29, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Metropolitan Ministries
Metropolitan Ministries’ Urban Immersion initiative provides youth an unique opportunity to be fully and closely engaged with their community. Youth will be exposed to true homelessness and poverty while learning ways to help individually, as a church, and as a community. Each day will include education, lunch, and four service hours. The cost is $50 per week, which includes a t-shirt and lunch daily. As always, if you need financial assistance, contact Fr. Connelly.
