The Men’s Thursday Bible Study and Lunch group continues weekly. The readings the group will study are those from the Revised Common Lectionary for the coming Sunday.

The study group for Bible Women by Lindsay Freeman welcomes all women. Each week is a standalone lesson. The book may be purchased from Forward Movement for $15.
CWBS is studying Amos and Hosea . After conversation and a light breakfast (fruit & some type of bread) that members take turns bringing, the study starts at 7:00 a.m. and ends shortly before 8:00 a.m.; a few people may leave early if they have to go to work.

Building Closings
The Church, Brickman Hall & Rudisill Hall (parish offices, Parish Hall, Lowry Room, Nursery, Sacristy, etc.) will be closed until August 4 for termite tenting. The Thursday 10:00 a.m. service is canceled.
Parish Breakfast and Sandwich Sunday: August 21
Sunday, August 21 marks our first monthly Parish Breakfast for the fall. Join us between the 9:15 and 11:15 a.m. services in the Parish Hall for food and fellowship!
We will also prepare sandwiches and bag lunches for the patrons of Faith Café during this time. All parishioners are invited to help. Thanks to the Gray family for being our hosts this month!
Events and Announcements
Services for Families Resume August 28
Our monthly services for families with small children will recommence on Sunday, August 28, in the Parish Hall and continue on the fourth Sunday of each month until March 27, 2017.
Backpack Blessing Planned
We will have our annual Backpack Blessing on Sunday, August 28. All students are invited to bring their backpacks to the 9:15 a.m. family service in the Parish Hall to have them blessed for the new school year!
Education for Ministry
Education for Ministry (EfM) is a lay theological program from Sewanee, the University of the South. The small group meets weekly from fall through spring with a Sewanee-trained mentor. Study, worship, discussion, and theological reflection serve as the basis for the weekly classes.
EfM is not a Bible study group; it is not a seminary or college class- no exams, no papers, no grades. The topics include: Year One – The Old Testament, Year Two – The New Testament, Year Three – Church History, Year Four – Other Religions and Philosophy. Students commit one year at a time. EfM is a weekly seminar to reflect theologically on Christian life, to gain understanding and appreciation of God in everyday life.

Your Help Needed
Sandwich Sunday Hosts Needed
Each month, we make sandwiches and bag lunches for the patrons of Faith Café to take with them after they eat a hot meal at the Café.We are in need of monthly hosts for 2016 on October 16, November 20, and December 18. Hosting means purchasing supplies (costs are reimbursed by St. John’s), helping facilitate the assembly line, and delivering sandwiches to Faith Café. School Supplies Needed for Cornerstone Kids
As the new school year approaches, your generous support is requested for the children at Cornerstone Kids. The goal is to raise $1,500 to cover the cost of backpacks and school supplies for 35 children.
