On January 6, the Epiphany of our Lord Jesus Christ, we will celebrate the coming of the Magi as the first manifestation of the divine Christ to the Gentiles. During the eight weeks that follow, our Scripture readings describe other manifestations of the essential nature of Jesus, giving us an intuitive perception of the cosmic reality of God as a human being.

Join Father Connelly in looking at the Season of Epiphany through the eyes of St. Matthew on Wednesdays from January 9 through February 27 in the Lowry Room from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m.. These readings offer a perspective that will be somewhat different from those we will hear on Sundays this year from the Gospel According to St. Luke. No preparation is required. Bring an open heart, an open mind, and if you wish, a Bible in the translation you prefer.

The topic of our first session will be the Baptism of Our Lord Jesus Christ, celebrated this year in the Western Church on January 13. The passages from Holy Scripture we will consider are Matthew 3:13-17; Mark 1:4-11; and Luke 3:15-17.

Feel free to bring a “brown bag” lunch. You may wish to join some of your fellow parishioners before the Bible study for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist in the chapel beginning at 12:15.
