The next event in our Annual Music Series will be a gala concert on Sunday, March 17 at 5:00 p.m. featuring organist David Briggs – international concert organist and Artist-in-Residence at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, New York City. This will be David’s second visit to St. John’s, and, as last time, he will be joined by our own choir in a performance of the ‘Messe Solennelle’ of Jean Langlais, with whom David studied in Paris. David and our Director of Music, Simon Morley, worked together at Truro Cathedral in the nineties, before David went to be Organist of Gloucester Cathedral and subsequently concentrate on his solo performing and composing career. He is, without doubt, one of the foremost organists of his generation, and we are very fortunate to have him make a return appearance at St. John’s. We are hoping to be able to provide a visual link to the organ console so as to enable the audience to see as well as hear the organist at work, and, as always, a reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
