I am honored to have been elected to the Vestry of St John’s. I was baptized, confirmed, and raised in a rural Virginia Episcopal parish. I’ve recently retired from a 37-year career in military and government service. This included active-duty Air Force assignments and deployments around the country and throughout the world, and lengthy duty at USSOCOM headquarters. At each stateside assignment, I sought out an Episcopal church in which I felt comfortable. My family (wife Katey, Cary Jr, Caroline, and Lauren) and I joined St John’s Parish very soon after my MacDill AFB assignment began, and we’ve enjoyed 25 years as members of this community. I have been a member of the Fathers’ Group, the Kitchen Krewe (when Dave lets me), and an Usher. My first turn as a Vestry member was interrupted by my deployment to Afghanistan, so I feel I have unfinished work I owe the congregation. I am most excited to help Fr. Chris further his “Come. Worship. Grow.” plan for our parish.
