And what I say unto you I say to all: watch.
When we pray for open eyes, open minds, and open hearts, it just about guarantees that we, as disciples, will be called to take some risks. And I think that healthy stewardship requires us to take some risks.
By using the little child as an example, Jesus is demonstrating the importance of accepting the least and the lowly without asking what benefit we may derive from including them. They are worthy and they belong, as do we all.
What we need to know is that God’s compassion, his loving energy toward the needy, propels all our Apostolic activities.
Heart space reminds us that we cannot solve problems from the same level of consciousness from which they were created.
If we really want to ‘be there’, we have to ‘get there’.
God unconditionally accepts us, and we ought to be honest with him.
It is easy to close ourselves off, but it is well worth it to stay open to ideas that challenge us.
In treacherous times when powerful people or systems threaten us or others, we have to discern what God wants us to do, and we have to accept that doing it will cost us something.
